Tata Motors wins TU Automotive’s Telematics award

Tata Motors winning TU-Automotive Detroit award for implementing Telematics solutions in its vehicle comes at the time when the Indian transport industry is moving towards advance Telematics solutions.

TU-Automotive Detroit, the world’s largest expo covering Telematics and other auto technologies, has honoured Indian auto giant Tata Motors with the ‘Best Telematics Product or Launch in the Emerging market’ award.

Tata Motors won the award on June 2 for its Telematics solution developed for the Tata Magic Iris Electric based on the Android platform.

The TU Automotive Detroit – Telematics Autonomy mobility award is an annual award given to the companies in the emerging market that comes out with best technology backed products or solutions for vehicle connectivity.

Tata Motors’ award winning Telematics solution has been developed for Tata Magic Iris Electric, a zero emission small category commercial passenger vehicle powered by Lithium Ion battery modules of 110 Ah at 48V.

With two battery modules, the vehicle can run up to 100 kilometers through an on-board charger. In addition, the Magic IRIS electric is fitted with a 120 watt roof top solar panel for supplementary charging.

Tata Motors is partnering with Europe’s leading Telematics solution provider, the UK-based Microlise since 2014. The European partnership is to bring latest Fleet Telematics solutions to India through the Tata FleetMan platform, a Telematics brand of Tata Motors.
