Bajaj Chetak electric scooter – Lot more is required than just copying others

Bajaj has launched Chetak as if doing the country a great favour. Electric Chetak as a product would have been excellent ONLY for a new company… Hum mangal par jaachuke hai…bhai… Neil Armstrong chaand par jaa ne ka time beeth chuka hai. Tho baisaab Bajaj apna1960 ka design museum me rakho bhai… Thanks. Being an EV fan I refuse to accept 2nd grade design from a market leader.

Aap Classic-Chetak-petrol me kyun nahi banata bhai… EV fans ko kyon thamata hai aise product?

Bajaj is good at copying designs. Unfortunately TODAY the Indian EV market loves products which are innovative and revolutionary, which Chetak is NOT!

Older generation would be very happy with this Chetak… but the new generation would not be so excited with it. With Chetak it is obvious that Bajaj is NO market leader in EVs and it will take a long time and a better product with innovative (not copy) design… before it really becomes popular. It’s very obvious Bajaj is still confused about EV world and doesn’t take Electric Vehicles seriously.

With Chetak… are they targeting the age group of 60+ or the age group of 25+?

Bajaj Chetak brand & design belongs in the museum and not on the roads.

These ICE makers have a penchant for “CLASSICS”… or relics from their hey days. They can bring out as many relics from their museum but EV world is not about relics… its about the trust and confidence of the makers have in electric vehicles… which clearly Bajaj lacks. Else it wouldn’t take Nitin Gadkari to coax, cajole and threaten Bajaj to make an electric vehicle. This is a fact which even Rajiv Bajaj admits in the speech at the event.

The way Rajiv Bajaj spoke was as if he was doing some favour to Nithin Gadkari by making the electric scooter. With this attitude eChetak will continue to stay behind Ather, Okinawa, Flow, BattRe, Ampere, Tom, Dick and Harry…

Does anybody seriously think that this product will change the EV scene in India? Is this the best India can give the World?

The reason the OLD CHETAK FAILED is because of:

1.Bajaj company’s indifference towards customer’s problem.

2. Almost ZERO technical upgrades on the Chetak for almost 15 years.

3. Chetak was a vehicle which famously had to be tilted before kickstarting it. Bajaj could NEVER IN ITS LIFETIME rectify this tilting-before-kickstart problem. They never bothered to solve it.

4. Bajaj never bothered to install electric start or gearless scooters for its Chetak brand even when new competition had them. It did try out some gearless scooter but was never successful.

5. Chetak never bothered to even upgrade its inferior brakes or seats even when its competitors had better seats.

The same company and management that messed up the CHETAK and now promising to deliver a better product.

Rajiv Bajaj truly underestimates the confusion and distaste that will be created when EV aware customers will CLASH with EV-illiterate and petrol-head dealers.

Give us 1 reason to buy this and not Ather electric scooter?…What advantage does this scooter have over Ather scooter?…Or Okinawa iPraise? Or Flow Scooter or, Hero Photon? Or Ampere?

Rajiv Bajaj is just Big talk… ZERO Specification… It’s hard to believe that Bajaj has NOTHING… no specification on their website except a photo of Chetak. First of all Bajaj had a pretty crappy… & unorganized/disorganised event. Then he had the guts of talking big… epecially when there are better eScooters in the market… that too created by totally new-kids-on-the-block.

HELLO…Somebody should tell the smug Rajiv Bajaj that he is the one who is behind the line this time…
He is the one who has missed the bus… the revolution… the curve… and most probably with this attitude he will continue to stay behind.

Dont believe us… just Check out http://www.chetak.com to see the picture of chetak and a link to (NEVER) subscribe… And it is WRONG to talk on specs (other than whats visible) by all websites & blogs… when the company itself refuses to commit or provide specs on their website or on paper.

Bajaj “we make magic” video looked like the bad documentary from ancient Doordarshan days… The song “Hamara Bajaj” is catchy and excellent advertisement campaign. But, unfortunately, the Ad is made by the Ad company and the scooter is made by Bajaj.

Sorry … just a name or a brand…is no longer enough… the missing specifications are needed Mr Bajaj…. Lot more is required than just copying others!… and Bajaj’s performance during intense competition is not very satisfying.
