TigorEV is a Maruti-killer – Best car for Uber or Ola

TigorEV is built & priced to be a MARUTI-killer …

particularly…Alto, WagonR, Swift & 7seater-Eeco killer

Each of these 4 vehicles sell between 10,000 to 20,000 every single month….

So by replacing them TigorEV has the potential to sell ABOVE …

40,000 TigorEVs EVERY SINGLE MONTH…

But to achieve that number Tata has to understand “who buys these 4 vehicles of Maruti? 1. They belong to the transportation industry and they have their own niche.

Alto, WagonR & Swift belong to a different category of transportation – the App-based cab industry while the Eeco operates as illegal private cab industry.

90% of Alto, WagonR are bought by cab owners because of their ability to shift between CNG & Petrol.

99% of Swift bought by cab operators are Diesel. This is preferred because in the long run the lower diesel cost over petrol gives it an edge over CNG+Petrol.

CNG would have been the best choice because of the combination of lowest price and diesel like milage. But unfortunately CNG stations are not available in all cities/towns of India.

99% of Eeco is owned by illegal private cab operators. Eeco cabs collect multiple passengers and drop them from point to point based on fixed price. Eg From Miraroad to Andheri Eeco seat price is Rs 40 while the taxi cost is Rs 200!

Eeco operate more like an illegal bus operator and the drop happens only on the main road. This is convenient for both the operator (saves time & fuel) and the rider (lower fare).

Tata can easily push TigorEV in this category with TigorEV. The 1-2 lower passenger count can be easily made up with EV efficiency and operation cost. Eeco alone sells at a perfect average of 10,000 sales every month.

Since the operational cost (fuel+maintenance) plays the biggest part of a Cab it is evident that EVs are most suited for this industry.

But Tata will have to educate the drivers & owners about the profitability of an EV & provide easy loans.

Tata can create a separate business to help these operators to become legally approved operators with Tata’s own App-based aggregator service.

Even in the Alto, WagonR & Swift category If marketed well with the taxi drivers… It really has the opportunity to decimate Maruti completely …

Cars like TigorEVs can make short rides within cities very profitable for App-based-Taxies.

Short rides are the most dreaded in the Uber/Ola world. Now TigorEV can change this.

But Tata needs to enter the App-Based-Taxi business…at least to a small extent… to really understand and exploit the weakness of Uber & Ola.

Uber & Ola cheat their drivers & Govt by reducing tarrif to get more business…

NO App-taxies should be allowed to operate BELOW govt Tarrif rates. The govt too gets very low taxes due to this…

TigorEV will be rebadged as Xpress-T EV for Fleet cars
Uncluttered but toned down information console

Uber & Ola have destroyed an entire Industry… its an unpardonable crime …

they did not disrupt… they destroyed…

The Govt just watched from the sidelines… as the companies (who don’t own cars) reduced fares and got more business while the tax paying drivers & cab-owners suffered losses and thus the govt suffered loses because the profit of the owners fell.

Only the car owner (who has to bear the operational costs & pays the driver a salary) should be legally entitled to reduce fare…. and not companies.

Having an app is not a great thing… Maps for Navigation existed before too. But questions like

How technology is used?

Who gets the Profit and

Who bears the loss? are all valid questions and all 3 have different answers presently. That is why the drivers are protesting and many committed suicide.

So if TigorEV has to succeed:

1. Tata must get the Govt to intervene and get the govt to manage it better just like govt manages the Stock Market & prevent lower fare than govt established Tarrif.

2. Free rides should be abolished unless offered by the Owner/Driver not the company.

3. Educate the drivers that short rides with EVs are more profitable than long rides with diesel.

The Alto, WagonR, Swift & 7seater-Eeco are all bought by cab owners for their business – to increase profit So TigorEV can easily replace all of them.
