CHINA GENERATES COMMERCIAL ELECTRICITY FROM COW DUNG

China is doing all it can to bring its biomass project to life. The country’s largest single biomass RNG cogeneration project was put into operation recently. Anhui Wuhe Modern Energy RNG cogeneration project constructed by China Energy Construction was put into operation. This project is the largest single biomass RNG cogeneration project in China. Furthermore, it is a joint project, reason for its significant largeness.

According to officials from the company, the total capacity of the project is 9 MW. Furthermore, they also claim that the comprehensive energy utilization rate is over 85%. The project put into production this time uses cow dung and straw as raw materials. Through some processing, the materials will convert into methane. This is then used to generate electricity through an internal combustion generator set.

RNG refers to renewable natural gas, which can also go as feedstock from methane from landfills, wastewater treatment plants and manure pits on dairy farms.

CHINA’S NON-FOSSIL ENERGY POWER GENERATION SET TO SURPASS COAL POWER FOR THE FIRST TIME

According to China Electricity Council, China’s high-tech and equipment manufacturing industry will consume a lot of electricity. The electricity consumption of some emerging manufacturing industries is increasing rapidly. Some of the most consuming industries are medical equipment, electric cars, wind energy prime mover equipment and more.

The structure, which is the country’s largest single biomass RNG cogeneration project, is on its way to becoming an important electricity source. So much so that, according to company officials, the total capacity of the project is 9 megawatts. If everything goes well in the project, it is aimed to grow even more.

In terms of power production and supply, the trend of green and low-carbon development is prominent. In terms of cumulative installed capacity, by the end of 2021, the installed capacity of full-calibre non-fossil energy power generation will reach 1.12 billion kilowatts. This is higher than coal power which will hit 1.11 billion kilowatts. This is the first time that the capacity of full-calibre non-fossil energy power generation will exceed coal power.
