Are you wondering why Maruti’s car sales are going down?

Well Indian Car market is split in 85:15 RATIO... almost!

Meaning 85% of car buyers are commercial vehicles (Taxi or Uber/Ola cabs or Fleet operators) & illegal (private) cab owners. That is why it doesn’t bother with safety ratings & try to keep costs low. Pretty stupid of a company no?

Maruti’s cars like Alto, WagonR, Swift, Dzire & Ertiga were the famous among the taxi & fleet operators.

While Brezza was …

mostly bought by personal users.

Maruti’s biggest buyers were the Ola/Uber owners who were fooled to buy new cars … If you look around you will not see even a single new Uber/Ola car.
All the Uber/Ola cars are in worse condition than the kali-peeli taxies.

UBER’s JUMLA: This demand for cars was a market (since almost Dzire’s birth) was a fake bubble created by Uber & Ola companies. They promised people 100% ROI within 1 year & less. Meaning if they invested Rs 10Lakh Dzire with them they promissed a return of Rs 1.5 Lakhs per month giving a return of 18 Lakhs within 12 months.

They even gave this for the first 2 to 3 months before it was dropped to 50K per month to 30K per month. After all what has the company to loose? They destroyed a lot of wealth of the people who trusted in them and invested in the company.

Today the Uber/Ola car owner gets less than the driver per shift.

Maruti doesn’t even know this is happening behind its back.

Indian govt must file case against Uber for destroying Indian Taxi Industry. There was ABSOLUTELY no disruption… it was destruction… I cannot understand how destruction of an industry can be called disruption?

Tomorrow any company can promise anything and after investment has been made call it a JUMLA?

Caught sleeping!
Another of Maruti’s problem is that they never looked at the horizon to see what is coming?

Everybody knew what is coming after the Paris accord was signed. Volkswagen itself was caught in a huge storm of DieselGate… did that not wake up Maruti?

Car makers are the least innovative… they prefer to change the headlights & taillight designs once in 5yrs… and the exterior design once in 10yrs. But of all the car makers in India Maruti is the least innovative. Their cars are not bad… but its almost basic… built for drivers and not for car owners who drive their own car with luxurious interiors.

Biggest Headach is yet to come:

If you think that we have seen it all and know how big the threat that faces Maruti and if you believe that Tata Motors is the biggest threat to Maruti… then you cannot be more wrong.

The biggest threat for Maruti is a company which has not made even one car yet … Ola Electric Car company.

The pace of Ola is blinding… and unprecedented in history of Automobiles. Ofcourse it cannot repeat that speed in manufacturing Cars but it has an advantage that NO CAR MAKER in HISTORY EVERY HAD… It already knows the names & profiles of those people who are already driving for Ola and will buy its electric cars becase it will double their income overnight.

Ola already has a payment system, GPS & control over their cars… so it can easily give the cars out directly from showroom to their drivers with good driving, rating & credit score.

This data nobody has in India except UBER.

To do something similar either Tata Motors or Maruti will have to buy Uber and take many months or years to integrate it into the company. Buying Uber by a Indian company will not be a very good experience in itself and Indian companies like Suzlon & Tata Motors have already burnt their fingers after buying western companies. Even if you consider Tata Motors will buy Uber there is a good chance that many countries will open litigation against Tata Motors for causing damage to their local Taxi Companies.

So finally the BIGGEST TAXI COMPANY (OLA) will end up BUILDING its own CARS 🙂

EAST aur WEST ka thinking mein zameen aasman ka farak hai… truly.
