Premium Price the REAL REASON for Ola’s falling sales

Believe it or not… we at PlugInCaroo firmly believe that…Ola sales have fallen because today OLA is the MOST EXPENSIVE eScooter in the market. … there is not a single Ola 2Wheeler available at the price range of RIVALS… WHY?

Rivals have used BaaS to re-Price their vehicles at:
Rs 45,000 (Hero)
Rs 76,000 (Ather), and
Rs 60,000 for 80km range Ampere.

Today all of them…

are ahead of Ola. But Ola stubbornly refuses to implement BaaS nor has it an 80km (low range) vehicle in the market.

Ather tried for 10yrs selling their scooters at a premium price of above Rs 1L… but managed to sell just like how Ola is selling today… few thousands per mth.

Ather’s Annual Sales data:

Ather story… Before BaaS… and after BaaS (2025)… HA… HA… HA

Then in year 2025 Ather re-priced Rizta… a Rs 146,000 scooter… at Rs 76,000 under BaaS… its sold out. It coincided with the launch of Rizta … so people assume its Ritza which changed Ather’s fortune.

MAGIC DOESNT HAPPEN… IT HAS TO BE CREATED!

Ola sales WILL PICKUP ONLY AFTER Gig Rs 40,000 and ZSeries Rs 60,000 eScooters hit the market... or bring in a 80km range Ola priced at Rs 80,000.

2Wheelers are FAMOUS to have a very sensitive price point… maximum sales happen BELOW 1L price… Rs 85,000 has been the sweet spot.

Maximum eScooters used on Indian streets are by Zomato, Swiggy, Blinkit, Zepto and eConmerce delivery boys… it costs around Rs 30,000- 40,000 and needs neither registration nor licence.

(I wonder how Ather is accounting for its BATTERY… because they dont get paid for the battery. Is it like a 3-5yr loan? But what if people sell off the vehicle in 2nd hand market?

(BYJUS had similar accounting issue a 3yr course fee was accounted as THIS yr REVENUE… when it was to be deffered collection over 3yr. This was pulled up by some auditors. BaaS is be a 3yr-20yr use-case and uncharted-untested territory… not sure if such a case could happen with Ather. BaaS complicates accounting for sure).
