About PlugInCaroo

Let us as a Nation move towards fuel efficient vehicles, clean water, green farms and a clean-green environment! India receives some of the highest rainfall in the world... still the country thirst for water... why? India has the highest cattle population in the world...but hardly extracts any biogas/gobar-gas from it... why? India tops the world in almost all agricultural products... but less than 1% is organic/natural... why? India receives good sunlight and has a Solar powered Airport... but less than 0.01% of houses are powered by solar power... why? India has the best electric/CNG car in the world (E2O/Tata NANO).. but 99.99% of car owners prefer to pay in dollars for their petrol.. why? (1Ltr = 1$ almost). All these problems can be solved by us 100% within our lifetime... if we take action to solve these issues personally and bringing awareness about it, (instead of discussing TV serials, celebrities, cricket scores & political parties). Let us together build a bridge of knowledge over ignorance! Lets us become independent from "Fuel, Water and Seed control". Right from the time when fire was discovered as a source of energy people have been trying to control the source of energy... not any more!

Stop FAME2’s stepmotherly treatment for slow scooters!

India’s electric two-wheeler manufacturer Hero Electric has appealed to the government to take a re-look at the government’s FAME II scheme, or Faster Adoption and Manufacture of Electric (and Hybrid) Vehicles, since it has not helped low cost electric vehicles pick up sales, as that is the segment which contributes to maximum volumes in the electric vehicle category, and not premium electric vehicles. According to Hero Electric, while the FAME II scheme was aimed to promote adoption of electric vehicles, the government needs to include low speed two-wheelers, as these cost effective vehicles are essential for mass adoption of electric vehicles.

We at PlugInCaroo feel that lack of support for slow scooters was a MAJOR SETBACK for the Governement’s EV Policy. FAME2 took 1 step ahead and 3 steps back. FAME2 was out and out support for Li-Ion batteries. This step motherly treatment of supporting one technology and ignoring other technology is wrong. LET THE MARKET DECIDE for heaven sake!

Boffins double lithium batteries density

… and they will not explode

Researchers at Australia’s Deakin University say they’ve managed to use common industrial polymers to create solid electrolytes, opening the door to double-density solid-state lithium batteries that won’t explode or catch fire if they overheat.

3MW solar power lights up Howrah station

KOLKATA: Much of the lights at Howrah station do not consume conventional energy.
Considered as one of the busiest railway stations in the country, the Howrah station has now emerged as the one with the largest commissioned solar capacity under Indian Railways. Eastern Railway (ER) has already commissioned a 2,965 KWp grid-connected rooftop solar power project at Howrah. They plan to do more to tap into renewable sources of electricity in order to go green and save costs.

After Solar-Powered Airport, Kochi’s JLN Stadium To Run Fully On Solar Energy

In 2015 Cochin International Airport (CIAL) had become the first airport in the world to be completely powered by solar energy.  It had received praise from across the world and was awarded the United Nation’s 2018 Champions of the Earth Award for Entrepreneurial Vision. The energy self-sufficient airport had become a model that has been replicated around the country and the world.

Now following its footsteps, the Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Stadium in the city is all set to adopt renewable energy to run it.

Another aluminum-air battery promises 1,500 miles of range from a charge | Autoblog

With billions of dollars being poured into battery electric vehicles, what seems like millions of new innovations crop up every year. Some inventions will find successful implementation. Most will wash up on the shore as EV industry jetsam. The Daily Mail reports on another novelty awaiting judgment, an aluminum-air battery (Al/air) created by British engineer Trevor Jackson. Jackson claims that if you replaced a Tesla Model S lithium-ion battery with one of his aluminum-air batteries of the same size, range would increase from 370 miles to 1,500 miles. Since the Al/air battery is lighter than a lithium-ion unit, Jackson says that if you used an Al/air battery of equivalent weight, the Model S would run for 2,700 miles on one full charge.

The Lead-Acid Battery’s Demise Has Been Greatly Exaggerated

An article from Forbes.

Following my recent article – Lead-Acid Batteries Are On A Path To Extinction – I received an email from Battery Council International (BCI), the trade association for lead battery manufacturers, recyclers and suppliers. Members directly provide nearly 25,000 U.S. jobs and make a $26.3 billion annual impact to the economy – and have experienced a 20% direct job growth since 2016.

They took particular exception to the headline, arguing that in contrast to my arguments, lead-acid batteries have a bright future. A key point they made in the email was that lead-acid batteries are 99% recyclable, while lithium-ion batteries are recycled at a rate below 5%.

So, I asked them if they would like to make those points in an interview. They agreed.

To summarize my view, I agree that… Continue reading
