Gadkari’s threat to the Automobile Industry… unprecedented!

…especially considering the minister doesn’t own or use a single electric vehicle nor has he called any tender for installing charging stations!  Those who stay in glass houses should not throw stones…

… Honorable Minister please install charging stations before issuing threats…. and give 20 year tax free status to EV car makers. This will put India in the lead position globally.

Ashok Leyland & IIT Madras Battery Venture

Ashok Leyland has partnered with IIT Madras to carry out research and development (R&D) activities for strengthening battery engineering and related sub-parts, especially for electric vehicles. IIT Madras is the first institution to set up such an initiative to develop the electric mobility ecosystem in India with industry participation. Ashok Leyland will sponsor the Centre of Battery Engineering (CoBE) at IIT Madras.
The Head of Electric Vehicles and e-Mobility Solutions at Ashok Leyland, Karthick Athmanathan, said that with this initiative in battery engineering… the company would be a participant in India’s aggressive push to stay ahead of the curve as far as electric mobility is concerned.

JSW to roll out Electric Car by 2020

JSW Energy a company with net profit of 2.17 billion rupees for the quarter ended June 2017 is now embarking upon the journey to build electric cars, batteries and charging infrastructure in India as a part of its diversification plans to drive future growth.

It plans to invest up to 40 billion rupees ($623 million) over the next few years and expects its first electric car to be rolled out by 2020. In a welcome break it is the first non-automotive company in India to not only build electric car but batteries and charging infrastructure too.
