ISRO offers Li-Ion tech to StartUps

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has asked local startups and industry houses to bid for transfer of its lithium ion cells technology as it looks to encourage making these energy-efficient batteries locally and help reduce imports.

The space agency floated a so-called request for qualification on Tuesday, promising to transfer the technology for lithium ion batteries built for powering satellites for Rs 1 crore, for sucessfull bidders. The transfer of technology, it hopes will spur the development of indigenous electric vehicle industry.

Expect dramatic shift in Indian EV Market… by yesterday!

Yep… not tomorrow… cause tomorrow already has become yesterday… that’s the pace the Indian Govt seems to be working… at least on Paper.

Looks like PM Modi has some issues to settle with Elon Musk… for not taking his offer to Make in India. If India get this done… Elon could well become bankrupt… (ISRO already has half of Elon’s Pie).

As per the plan on paper India could have govt battery plant and battery swapping and charging stations by 2018… Gigawatt size plant by 2020… and all diesel and petrol vehicles will be “DEMONITIZED” by 2032!… lol that woke up a lot of sleeping petrol heads… Wake up guys… the petrol/diesel car you buy today will become JUNK in 5 years time.

For a govt that could demonetize 80% of a country’s currency overnight… this would be a walk in the park…

The recommendations in a draft report…

Nitin Gadkari’s ISRO’s lithium-ion battery gets showcased by ARAI

A lithium-ion battery, indigenously developed by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) for space applications, has been successfully put to use in an electric two-wheeler by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI).

A prototype two-wheeler developed …using ISRO’s lithium-ion battery was unveiled by Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, government of India at Symposium on International Automotive Technologies (SIAT 2017) held at the ARAI Campus, Vetal Hill, Kothrudin Pune during January 2017.

Gadkari’s “pilot project” on 15 year old Technology.

One fine day Mr Gadkari, Indian Transport minister woke up from his slumber in August 2015 and decided that running electric buses would be cost effective and set about with the Indian Space Research Organization to deploy 15 buses on a pilot project. Possibly he believes that electric vehicles are rocket science and after the Agni Missile Programme, Moon Mission, Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) , Mars Orbiter Mission the mission of making an electric Bus for the people of India should be the next biggest task assigned to India’s biggest Organization.

Now a Pilot project is a small scale preliminary study conducted in order to evaluate feasibility, time, cost, adverse events, and statistical variability in an attempt to study the design and its function prior to implementation of the Technology.

The problem is that the technology in question is 15 years old and…
