A traditional swimming pool can cost anywhere from $6000 for an above ground pool to $50,000 for a fully automated in-ground pool, not to mention excavation and decking costs. A used shipping container can be sourced for around $2000 and converted into an above or below-ground pool measuring 6m or 12m long and 2.4m wide. The shipping container will need to be modified to remove the roof, but this provides flexibility with the depth of the pool, allowing for a shallow wading pool or a deeper lap pool up to 2.5m deep. Shipping container swimming pools can be made… water-proof through a number of methods such as lining the interior with a water-proof lining or welding and painting the interior, displays glass panelling and stylish wooden trimming. Regular pool filters, pumps and fixtures can be fitted to the container as well.
