who buy HIS Hero scooter buy it thinking they are buying Hero Motors Scooter which is a completely different (his family) company selling petrol scooters in India.

While during the past 2 yrs Indian market has seen an invasion of different modern models of electric scooters some built fully in India and others assembled in India. Hero is still selling Photon! Almost ALL of its competing scooters are better than HERO in looks and performance.

Hero is a big company no doubt. But if it cannot manufacture peppy models and just keep importing complete knocked down (CKD) kits from China and assemble it in India then they will find it difficult beyond 2025 and close down completely by 2030! Because competition is bringing in better CKDs from China.

If companies like Hero Electric cannot manufacture their own design its not a good omen for the company in the long run. It survived because of its “Hero’ brand and having very poor competition.

This HERO Electric model of assembling chinese scooters in India died 10yrs ago in India. It got a second life after Li-Ion price fell.

This CHINESE MADNESS of selling of identical looking scooters of every brand HAS TO STOP. There are many brands selling electric scooters that look identical in every way. Indian companies just put their brand name on it and hang “Make-In-India” board ouside.

Hero survives because people who do not know anything about electric vehicles buy Hero Electric Scooter thinking it is associated with Hero Honda or Hero Motors. So they buy it as a safer bet.

ALL of Hero Electric scooters are unattractive… they are VERY traditional kind of scooters. These scooters look similar to the electric scooters sold a decade ago.

Compare Hero Electric scooters to market leaders like Gogoro, Okinawa and Ather scooters. Hero doesnt even come close. Hero is very ugly! Even TVS iCube is cute! Its a miracle HERO is getting ANY sales!

People buy HeroElectric scooters thinking they are buying Hero Motors scooters.

HeroElectric need to have better looking scooters models, better colours, OLED digital display units, LED striplights around the scooter, LED lit brand name, cool looking charging units… something like Ather has, etc

Hero Electric expects dealers to take up loss for 3 yrs. This is not correct method. It is a traditional method. This is a very dangerous model to sell today. Those who associate with Hero Electric will have only themselves to blame. If Hero sinks it will be like Titanic and thousands of dealers will sink with it.

The way out for Hero Electric is:

a) Make better models to earn a profit from day one for both company and dealer

b) Manufacture motorcycles because EVs are more suited for motorcycle & price

c) Enter the Lead Acid battery manufacturing for 2wheelers.

If Hero doesn’t change its current method of operation its very difficult to see it surviving beyond 2025!
