Now that the Ola has revealed its eScooter look and announced its world’s biggest plant people have started reviewing the scooter. Most of the reviewers are focusing more on its specifications like range, top speed & cost of the scooter WITHOUT realizing the game plan of OLA!

WHAT PEOPLE ARE NOT GETTING is that Ola WILL NOT be just another eScooter seller. … Ola will be using these Scooters…

as Last-Mile-Connectivity-Taxies to ferry customers from metro/Rly/bus stations to their home.

There is no iota of doubt that Ola eScooters will be the killer of an industry… it will be an Autorickshaw /TukTuk industry killer.

While Ather with its touch screen maps are just for fun… Ola will use its touchscreen to get customers for the scooter owners. Ofcourse these eScooters could have a Yellow & Black Transport number plate.

Ather & Chetak scooter users will be stuck with their fixed battery while Ola scooters will have the option to swap these battery with fully charged batteries… and when that too is depleted they could then come back to get their 1st battery which would have been now full-charged.

Ola will use the eScooters as Scooter-Taxies … ₹10 or 20 per ride per passenger can be ₹1,000 or ₹2,000 per day business for the owners. Of course In some areas these riders will carry more than 1 passenger and make more.

Longer rides will fetch more & reach destination faster than Autos & cabs. ..thus more rides. Good for both customers & riders.

What is a Bike-Taxi? Bike-Taxi is a taxi on 2-Wheeler. bike taxi, is a licensed form of transport in some countries. The bike-taxi usually carries one passenger, who “rides pillion” behind the motorcycle operator. It can be booked from a phone app just like a cabs like Uber, Ola, etc.

Why scooter/bike taxies?

1. Saves time as it can zig-zag through the traffic or crowded streets, squeeze ahead between vehicles and drops you at your destination quicker than cabs, buses or autos. If a car takes 30 minutes then a scooter/bike will take less than 15 minutes!
2. Bike-Taxies will be cheaper than cabs or autorickshaws. Electric Bike-Taxies will be even more cheaper than petrol bike-taxies.

This Taxi-Business is a field that Ather has no experience in. Ather has really been caught napping. Who knows maybe Ather might take over some bike-taxi company like Rapido or Bike!

Autorickshaw sales will fall. Ola eScooterTaxies will sell like hot cakes even if priced around 2lakhs because it will give income.

Ola Bike was first introduced in 2016 as a last-mile mobility solution in Gurgaon, Faridabad, and Jaipur, and is currently present across 200 cities and towns. 

There are already many bike taxies operating in India… like Rapido, Baxi, Jugnoo, UberMoto & OlaBikes

It will do to Autorickshaws… What Uber did to goodOldTaxies.

Ola will not bother selling abroad … at least for 5 yrs… because it will be busy fulfilling local demand for this “money-making” scooter.
