Ola Electric has finally launched a 100 km range eScooter priced approx Rs 50,000! This has already started to push the sales. We at PlugInCaroo had been continuously requesting Bhavish to launch a lower priced scooter with lower range to enable lower income group to buy these scooters. We had posted quite a few blogs and even nagged their Social media sites raising this issue.

You will never see anywhere in media anyone who has linked lower price scooters to be the volume sellers and nobody has even realized that the sales of Ather & Hero increased because they started offering scooters in BaaS model… and Greaves Ampere started to sell more by bringing in a low range (80kms) eScooter Rio.
Under the BaaS model the price of battery is deducted from scooter price and paid as per use at Rs 2 per km… (minimum being Rs 2,000 per mth). This reduced the price of the scooter by half.
Many people found this convenient as the most expensive part of eScooter is the battery and if anything happens to the battery it will be a huge headache for the owner.
We at PlugInCaroo always believed that Ola Electric’s sales fell because it became a very premium scooter in the market by increasing the range upto 500kms. While other reduced their price using BaaS model and lower priced and low range Rio.
Ola Electric had started out as the best value for money product and suddenly moved into the premium category. Now its back in the volume game with a 100kms range eScooter priced around Rs 50,000.
