The dangers of dabbling with Li-Ion Batteries
Many people do not realize it… but the dangers of dabbling with Li-Ion Batteries for your EV might show inverse sale. This doesn’t make sense straight away because people always argue that Li-Ion Batteries are light and have a greater power density and output. These are all good on paper buy if you put it in the market the advantages of Li-Ion disappear completely in front of a layman.
- For one the cost of the vehicle is straightaway higher than what is available in Petrol version.
- The battery replacement cost of ONE Li-Ion battery is about 5 times the cost of ONE LA battery.
- The worst part is that the range (km travelled) difference between Li-Ion Battery & Lead Acid Battery vehicle is almost the same.
- On top of it he doesn’t understand you when you talk about the awesomeness of the Li-Ion technology its energy density, light weight, quick charging etc.
Why the layman doesn’t understand all the stuff is because these great points of Li-Ion and bad points of LA Batteries are all stuff that doesn’t affect him “much” anyway… let me explain…
Ather Electric Scooter or Hero Leap Hybrid?
Ather Energy has planned an Electric Scooter launch for 2016 with speed of 75kmph and range of around70 kms while Hero Leap (hybrid) has a speed of 100kmph and range of 350kms. Both are priced around 90,000.
Which one would you buy? Me?… neither cause I think both look kind of sissy or lady like.
Probably if they came out with an Enfield Bullet, KTM Duke or a Pulsar I would be the 1st to line up…but right now… its time for sissy launches… so make way for the lady bikes 😉

This is also a great platform to get experience in wining potential investors or Venture Capitalist. The university has also made good effort in publicity and providing a good prize money (Rs 100,000 to 500,000) as an incentive for the winners. The latest challenge is the Indo Asian Solar Challenge 2016.
Today we at PlugInCaroo ask some soul searching questions both from the students and the faculty. With all respect please note that we are not complaining about LPU nor about the students but just asking if we could all together improve the already set standards… not to follow how the solar races happen elsewhere in the world… but to set our own standards which other International Colleges would want to meet?
