1.     Get on the water with a raft or a boat & remove the floating garbage…. if the pond is small use  a pond-net on a bamboo pole to remove the garbage.

2.     Use a motor pump to pump out waste from the bottom part of the pond.

3.     When it is dry deepen the pond to at least 6-7 feet in depth with gradual slope from all sides. By doing this you will also remove the dirty top layer of the pond.

4.     Add large rocks or stones or boulders so that it will provide crevices/hideouts at the deep end for fishes to breed and hide.

5.     Never add fishes that cannot breed in the pond. (Eg Genetically Modified or Hi-bred)

6.     You can use the excavated mud from here to make bricks or make a small mud house or even as compost

7.     You will need a solar powered fountain (with timer which will work every hour and rest the next hour till the sun is up) that will create a fountain or just throw water up into the air and back into the water to aerate the water and oxygenate the water. This will also create movement of the water.

8.     Add fish in it. Fishes keep the pond clean.

9.     Add a small amount of ducks. The ducks will eat any dead fish, surface weeds or vegetation that might tend to grow or float on the surface of the water. Ducks & fishes also create movement of the water.
