OLA! BEWARE! – Avoid single dandi… ONLY use double dandi Ola Scooters!!!

Ola single dandi vs Ola double dandi
Ola single dandi vs Ola double dandi

Avoid the Ola eScooter with single dandi in the front arm of the wheel which was probably taken from autorickshaw front wheel design for quicker assembly, removal of front wheel & repair.

Such a single arm design is ok for:

Mahindra chases EV 2Wheeler fantasy… don’t know whether to laugh or to cry 😃😃😃

Mahindra has given away a lot of its money buying companies with good potential and unable to run it professionally … Reva Car, Ssangyong motor & GenZe scooter company are some names that come to mind.

Silver lining is that this comes with PORTABLE BATTERIES & should cost BELOW Rs 50,000... It looks to have fatter tires too… VERY PROMISING… but trust Mahindra to mess things up!

Best Electric Scooters of 2022?

1. Okinawa & Ola have one thing in common… post purchase issues… this is because of their rapid & huge scaling.

2. Almost 100% of eScooter makers seem to be getting almost 100% of parts from China… via their Indian vendors. The Indian vendors might be ordering from China. That is the reason most of the eScooter look similar to eScooters of other brands … and also that is the reason for the delay for parts replacement. These parts have to be ordered from China the more variety of models the dealer has the more severe this problem will be. This you can expect for almost ALL eScooters in India. This could be because Indian parts might mis-fit with chinese parts of the scooter. So for them its better to get it from china.

3. Interesting thing is Jitender EV was a genuine EV maker (I guess from Pune) who created his own eMotorcycle but now prefers to peddle chinese eSeooters like others.

4. Ola is a UNIQUE case because it jumped into the EV mudfight too quickly… and too boastfully… Firstly Bhavesh did not have experience in manufacturing… add to that he scaled pan-India in 1st year. By this year Ola should get their issues sorted. Compared to Ola… Ather is making eScooters for 10yrs now. The fact that Ola started from an empty ground to building a factory, taking orders & making delivery SO SOON is an achievement all by itself.

5. Ather is currently the best scooter… but SUPREMELY EXPENSIVE to own. Ather is actually MORE expensive than a PETROL scooter. Its Total subscription costs with GST adds up to Rs 10,000/yr. But isn’t scooter the common man’s vehicle? Ather’s price+lowRange+FixedBatery+highServiceCost puts it in a HIGH ASPIRATION but LOW VALUE category.

6. FAME2 is NOT for consumers… it is for INDUSTRIALISTS who make eScooters with “IndianParts” at least on paper….

7. I respect PureEV for not following the heard and faking Chinese scooters as 90% Made-In-India. If other companies made eScooters truly in India this PARTS REPLACEMENT CRISIS would NOT HAVE EXISTED.

8. Bajaj & TVS are not really big EV players because they will keep making EVs to just 5% to 10% of their ICE capacity else their ICE business which is so VAST will crumble. This is the reason I feel they will not last beyond 2030. Even Tata Motors agreed they will not make MORE THAN 20% of eCars in future (right now they are making approx 5%-10%).

9. Revolt is another great value for money vehicle. It is the ONLY company offering battery swapping and battery assistance in India as of date. It has removable battery but since the battery is heavy it is not recommended for daily carrying to home to charge. But it is a good option to have in an emergency. Other good companies (Ather, Ola, Bajaj & TVS) lack this important feature.

10. Benling & Gemopai are both Chinese investment in India. Its best to avoid these two… for multiple reasons. People have to be really ignorant or stupid to buy these.

11. So I feel the GENUINE MANUFACTURERS who are really interested in making good electric 2-wheelers in India right now are Ather, Revolt, Ola & PureEV.

12. Hero Electric scooters offer the best value for money & they seem to have good technicians at each dealer. It functions like a well oiled company. But sales people are less motivated & test drives are less. Their eScooters also come with crash guard around the vehicle. It also has the cheapest priced vehicles.

13. Joy eBikes have some of the smallest vehiclestheir eScooter is good only for 1 person the pillion will have half his butt sticking out of the seat… Their eMotorcycle is so small that it looks like a toy motorcycle… but it gives good performance. Its good for single riders and occasional pillion rider who is willing to sit tight & grab on to the rider.
