Buy Solar Panels from Loom Solar here: Loom Solar

(Loom Solar is a start-up, a manufacturer of Mono solar panels and AC Module based out of Faridabad, Haryana. It sells solar system across India with promised delivery within 3 days. It is an ISO 9001-2015 certified company and recognized startup by Govt. of India.)

After China entered the market Solar Panels have improved greatly over the last 5 yrs.

5 yrs ago the biggest size… solar panel was about 100w panel. Today there are panels that carry a rating of 320 watts. That is a 300% increase. If this can be repeated over the next 5 yrs then most work like powering a house or charging a car could be done with a single panel.

Most Indian houses which are below 1000 sqft area require around 1kw or just 4 panels of 320 watts each. Switching to LED tube lights, LED bulbs and LED TV not more than 36 inch cannot be stressed enough.

Those whose consumption is below 100 units need not worry installing solar system. All other people need to seriously consider installing at least a 1kW solar system. Today most 1kW system cost below 1 Lakh Rupees with subsidy or without battery the cost is almost half of that.

Consider you put this 1 Lakh rupees in Fixed Deposit in the bank. even at 7% you will get just Rs 7,000 per year which is equivalent to just Rs 583 per month. Over the years the amount will reduce because the interest rate will be lowered by the Govt as it has been doing over the last many years.

But if you put the same 1 Lakh rupees in a 1kW solar system it will earn you approx Rs 2,000 per month. This is 4 times the interest that the bank will earn you. At this rate you can recover your 1 lakh in 4 years!

Based on the Electricity cost in Mumbai 1kw solar system can produce enough electricity to save you around Rs2,000 in electricity bills every month. So if your current bill is Rs 4,000 or Rs 6,000 it can  reduce it to Rs 2,000 and Rs 4,000 respectively.

If you are having Rs 4,000 in electricity bill then you have an AC running at least some hours a day. To make the bill Zero you will need a 4kW system. A 4kW system will cost approximately Rs 4Lakhs without subsidy.

Such a system is easier to install on a row house or a bungalow where the roof belongs to you and is not shared with other people in the building.

Many buildings install rainwater shade over the terrace of the buildings to protect the building from rainwater and heat to ensure longevity of the building. So if your building has not installed such a structure you can offer to build it with solar panels.

Off Grid = with battery no Electricity connection nearby

On Grid –With Battery (even if power goes solar energy gets cut off to avoid backflow of electricity to the Grid. There should be a firewall and bypass system to get power during a power cut).

On Grid – Without battery  – Electricity will be fed to the Grid and the cost of producing electricity will be adjusted with the cost of using electricity. This is good for people who have Air-conditioning and other heavy equipment running a long time.

The amount of electricity a panel or a solar system produces depends on many things like the angle of sunlight, the time of the day, the season of the year, tree shade etc. Solar panels produce less energy during overcast conditions. But in a day 1kw system produces much more than just 1kw. On a good day it should produce 2- 3kw. The rating of 320w is the best it can produce at the peak sunlight hours on the of the best summer days. But calculating this way is quite vague and confusing and not really required. Nobody measures exact amount of water to drink when they are thirsty. This too is something like that. If you don’t use airconditioning, heavy tools or kitchen machinery excessively then 1kW will suffice for a 1,000sqft house. In case you realise that your requirement is more there is no problem you can add more solar panels to the system.

  1. Use LED tubes and bulbs. Use multiple 3w bulbs placed at different places in your room so you can switch on on which side you need it. LED tubes can be switched whenever more light is required. LED tube lights are awesome because they do not require a choke/ballast or a starter.
  2. Use LED TV and don’t take extra large TV. 36inch LEDTV is big enough. Anything over 40 inch is using more electricity. In many houses TV is the single biggest electricity consumer because the TV is continuously working from morning 7am till midnight.
  • Once Solar system is installed its better to use the heavy machinery during between 12 noon to 2pm.
  1. For people using big size pump it is very serious situation. It means 3 things
  2. a) the water table is below 100feet and
  3. b) You have destroyed your soil by using chemical farming.
  4. c) You have killed all earthworms, organisms & insects in your soil.

All farmers must have a 6ft deep pond that is at least 25mtr x 25mtr. Or 5% to 10% of your land must be a pond. Nowadays there is a fad to lay plastic liner for the pond. But that is not a good idea. The pond must be made that is without plastic liner. The idea is to trap rainwater and send it below your farm. Plastic liner doesn’t allow the water to go underground. It evaporates more water due to sunshine and wind than it saves underground. The tunnels that the earthworms make enable these water to go underground.

It is just like farming. If you save one seed underground you will get a plant. Similarly if you save drops of water underground you will get unlimited source water.

So if your water table is higher you will need smaller pump even 0.5 HP pump will do! Smaller pump means you will need less investment in batteries because solar pumps needs batteries. A bigger solar pump system will need more batteries than a smaller solar pump system.

Before you put the solar pump make sure you make the pond. Other wise every year your watertable will fall and you will need to put a bigger pump and also increase the power of your solar panels and batteries because to start the pump will require a lot of power which only a battery can supply and only solar cannot supply. But with a small pump it is possible to power it without the battery. Using solar panels without battery is the correct way because the cost of battery and its periodic replacement is expensive. Most Solar power pumps cost above 3 lakhs because they use high power pumps.
