The biggest award in Indian electric mobility BEST, the public transportation company in Mumbai has awarded 3,675 crore contract to Hyderabad based Olectra GreenTech for supply of 2,100 buses over a period of 12 months

Specifications:

• Range: 200 kms
• Life: 12 years.

• Length: 12m
• Capacity 35 sitting & 24 standing passenger

• Wheelchair access,
• GPS technology,
• panic buttons and
• Air suspension.

By the end of 2023 it plans to have 50% electric bus fleet with more than 2,000 Electric buses, of which 900 will be double decker.

The BEST undertaking plans to have a 100% electric fleet by 2027.

The current price  of Rs 6/km for AC electric bus will continue for now.

Among all categories of electric vehicles in the country Mumbai is 4th after Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai in terms of registration and also 4th in the chart when comes to e-scooters.

Mumbai has a total of 7,680 electric vehicles:

• 2,237 electric cars and
• 4,618 2-Wheelers

The number is only going to increase…
